Chrome Plated Steel Bars: Chrome Plated Bars are produced from medium carbon cold-finished or hot rolled steel bars usually in 1045/1050 or 10v45 grades. The bars are centerless ground, polished, and chrome plated to a minimum thickness of 0.0125, and 0.0254 mm per side. Chrome Plated bars are specifically designed to be used for most piston rod applications in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
Chrome layer: The thickness of the chrome layer is 25 µm min.
Surface roughness: The surface roughness (Ra) is always less than 0.2 μm and normally in the range 0.05–0.10 μm. Rt (ISO) is always less than 2.0 μm and normally in the range 0.5–1.0 μm.
Surface hardness: The chrome layer hardness is 800 HV0.1min. The hardness in the induction hardened zone immediately beneath the chrome layer is 45 HRC min. Material hardness 15 – 25 HRC
